Put the coffee packet in the slide out, plastic container above the glass pot. Then pour the cold water in. Then turn it on. Within minutes you have coffee.

You're fine. You poured the water correctly. Coffee packet goes into the filter slot. It should open. Then make sure it's plugged in and press the button to brew. Once you do a red/orange light turns on and turns off when done. Call front desk if you still need help. The water automatically heats and drips.

All sodas can damage the paper and pulp resin in the paper product.
I would have used tea instead of coffee to 2 reasons; one is the odor is less obvious and your trying to make something look like it was from the 1600 or 1700s whe people drank tea. The smell of tea and tobacco is on every document in the US Archieves at the Lib of Congress during this era...it's the nature of the civilization.
TRY SETTING THE document in a box with a small bowl with about 4 bricks of charcoal..like you use to BBQ. The smell will be gone in 24 hours. GUARANTEED!

Sure, 1 a week can't be unhealthy... but for the rest... not really... Better try drinking green tea: http://www.sana-life.net/index.php?page=…
